Course Overview

Introducing a national physician-training program designed for Interventional Cardiologists, Interventional Radiologists and Vascular Surgeons who are prepared to initiate or further develop a chronic total occlusion (CTO) program in their institution. The program will have a strong emphasis on hands-on training with exposure to clinical evidence, device selection and latest techniques for treating coronary and peripheral CTOs. The program will allow physicians from around the country to work side-by-side and share knowledge with top CTO operators.

Curriculum

A formal curriculum has been designed to meet the needs for education, clinical experience, and patient care in order to provide the most comprehensive training program available. Hands-on training in catheter-based technology and endovascular procedures is taught by leading faculty.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this training program, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the anatomy and physiology of CTOs.
  • Discuss appropriate patient selection and identification of potential complications of CTO procedures.
  • Describe specific interventional options for the management of CTO cases.
  • Identify treatment tools for accessing and crossing CTOs.
  • Discuss pre- and post-procedural patient management.

Participant Prerequisites

Course participants must have sufficient knowledge, skills, and experience to participate in the course, including:

  • High level of proficiency in catheter-based intervention.
  • Board certified in IR, VS or IC.
  • Fully credentialed to perform peripheral and/or coronary interventions at his/her local institution.

Participants must also obtain hospital privileges at the course site, as well as a state medical license and malpractice insurance that comply with the training facility standards. Ciné-Med will manage this process for all participating physicians, which may take several weeks to complete.

Training Locations & Dates

Course availability and dates are subject to change. Ciné-Med will contact you to confirm a specific date and site. Courses are limited to 2-4 physicians. Early application is recommended. Application and credentialing standards are based on individual site and/or state requirements. Physicians will receive course confirmation once Ciné-Med has received approval of temporary privileges from the site, and issuance of state temporary license, where applicable.
